Know your steel.
Knowing where steel comes from, how it was made and how it moves through the supply chain is becoming increasingly important.
At InfraBuild, we're continuing to invest in technology and data capability that improves steel product traceability across our manufacturing and supply operations.
From identifying steel during production to improving product verification and dispatch accuracy, better traceability can provide greater confidence in product compliance, order accuracy and sustainability credentials.
Product identity
Connecting steel products with the information that identifies them.
Supply visibility
Improving accuracy as products move through our operations.
Customer confidence
Supporting product compliance and sustainability information.
Traceability through steel manufacturing.
Our traceability capability connects physical steel with information at key stages through manufacturing and dispatch.
Connecting data with steel as it moves through our operations.
01 / IDENTIFY
Steel billet marking and identification.
Billet marking is an essential link in the quality chain, providing traceability of steel heat numbers and helping ensure the right steel grade is used for the right end product.
At our Sydney Melt Shop, automated laser marking uniquely identifies billets with the heat number, strand number and billet number in both human-readable text and a 2-D data matrix.
Heat number + Strand number + Billet number
03 / VERIFY
Improving product accuracy through automation.
Robotic tagging helps improve the accuracy and consistency of steel product identification while reducing manual interaction in operational areas.
Safer processes
Reducing manual activity in dispatch and warehouse exclusion zones.
Greater accuracy
Reducing the risk of bundles being incorrectly tagged.
Better traceability
Supporting confidence in product compliance, order delivery accuracy and sustainability credentials.
